The Nevada City Escape

Stressed. Confused. Overwhelmed.

Coming back home to California after 1.5 years being away didn’t provide the respite that I thought it would. I had AirBnB credit that needed to be used, so a weekend getaway was the perfect way to clear my mind and reassess my priorities. Where to? I was going on my own so I didn’t want to drive for too long and my sister suggested a small, charming town 3 hours away at the foot of the Sierras. A recommendation was enough to convince me to book a stay.

My stay in Nevada City was perfect. Good food and beautiful sights, I felt worlds away from my problems back home.

Photos shot with my Canon SureShot on Kodak Gold 200 film.

The river rushing under the suspension bridge.

Had a moment where I thought I was going to get attacked by a dog on the way back to town. It was so hot, I mentally accepted death by dog and of course nothing actually happened.

Hoyt Trail off the Yuba River 15 minutes from Nevada City.

Wish this dog could’ve scared the squirrel that ate my sandwich while I waded in.

Nevada City’s Summer Art Fair.

Classic cars for a classic place.

I left Nevada City with less weight on my chest and a desire to come back soon.
